| Really enjoyed the responsive handling of this upgraded turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 270 horsepower, and plenty of get up and go. A 9-Speed automatic transmission and off-road suspension provides for a model of great driving, excitement and updates. | The 2.0 liter, 270 horsepower turbocharged four provided robust, responsive acceleration in all settings for the Cherokee Latitude Plus. It cornered well, was quite manageable in an urban setting, and gave me a feeling of fun, confidence and security as I drove it. |

| 23 miles Overall/ 20 miles City/ 27 miles Highway. | For the turbocharged engine, the figures are 23 overall, 20 city and 27 highway. Actually I did a mile per gallon or two better than the federal figures. You will spend $2,750 more in fuel costs over five years compared to the average vehicle, with the Jeep Cherokee, and you will use 4.3 gallons per 100 miles, and the annual fuel cost is $1,950 based on $3.00 a gallon gasoline and driving 15,000 miles a year over a five-year period. |

| The Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus gets itself a mid-year makeover. This 5 seater compact SUV feels a little larger than a compact. The engine upgrade as well as tech upgrades improve its standings. Jeep provides excellent user-friendly 7" infotainment access and usage, as well as a great drive both on- and off-road. The updated Jeep does run into competition when it comes to driving, space and price when squarely bumped against the Ford Escape and the Honda CR-V. That's a pretty big class. Even though it's a bit pricier, the exterior design looks decisively Jeep Grand Cheroke-esque and that can sway many toward it. |
The heavily redone Cherokee is quite a revelation. It really feels--and looks like a smaller Grand Cherokee and is a solid, well-built and generally quiet compact SUV, which handles well on the highway. I found it to be one of the better products in its segment. Quality control was quite solid, and it has FCA's terrific UConnect system, arguably the best entertainment/climate control/navigation set up in the entire industry. It also looks quite expensive and feels pricey. What really shocked me was that the Latitude Plus model I drove, which looked so ritzy inside, was not even the top drawer model--that honor goes to the Overland! |

You get a nice list of standard features on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The standard is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 180 horsepower. But I'm told fuel economy on this engine as well as acceleration are not particularly good. I would consider either the optional 3.2-liter V6 that makes 271 hp or the all-new 2.0-liter turbo that makes 270 hp. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard with all engines. The Latitude, Limited and Overland are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the Trail hawk comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Standard equipment highlights for the Latitude include 17-inch wheels, automatic xenon headlights, heated side mirrors, height-adjustable front seats, 60/40-split folding rear seatback, a folding front passenger seat with a storage compartment inside the seat cushion, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, a USB port, a new 7-inch touchscreen interface and a six-speaker audio system. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration is standard across the range for 2019. The Latitude Plus model adds keyless ignition and entry, leather inserts in the upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Satellite radio is standard, as are passive keyless entry with push-button starting and two extra USB ports. You may want to consider as an option, the Latitude Plus's Comfort and Convenience package, which gets you features such as an auxiliary household power outlet, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote start, and a universal garage door opener. |

| The exterior design is universally and distinctly Grand Cherokee. Inside the front dash is really clean cut and smart looking with an upscale design. We noted a 200-pound reduction vs last year which lightens the load a tad. The front body is more aligned and less boxy and the grille, with vertical lines, is attractive and screams Jeeps. We love this updated and body look. |
Really good looking compact SUV. It has all of the Jeep flavorings such as the iconic grille, the athletic look and stance, and the odd looking headlights have been replaced with some contemporary forward looking ones instead. But it's the interior that got rave reviews from me. First, it's very roomy and comfortable, particularly in the back seat. The only problem I had was that there was no time display if you had the radio and UConnect system off. |
