This is because VW makes it better each year by tweaking but not changing it. they have a good thing and lean in with the modifications, rather than redesign it year after year. Smart. And,unlike most other vehicles. What a strong repuation they have and 2019 is no exception.
The Golf Autobahn trim level was an absolute joy to ride with its adaptive suspension and 3 options for drive mode -- Normal, Sport, and Individual. Roomy, a look of almost-luxe, quite, upgrated materarials, and an exceptional look inside and out. Some folks feel that it's a little pricy, albiet close to $38K is not inexpensive, but with the Golf's repution and a 'best buy", your getting a winner. Dual-Zone Climatronic automatic climate control. Leather wrapped sterring wheel. Driver's seat is packed - 12 way power and lumbar support. Both driver and passenger front seats are heated. Rain-sensing, intermittent front wipers with heated washer nozzels. |
Rarely has a car--especially a compact one--given me so much joy to drive. The GTI, as far as I'm concerned, is the founder of the hot hatch segment of the auto market--that is, small cars that are packed with performance, practicality, and peerless handling. And GTI delivers on all counts.
In fact, the only car in the compact class that I can think of--that can even come close to the GTI specifically is the Mazda3, though auto writers think that Mazda may have slipped a bit performance wise in the new generation because of a new suspension system. The new GTI is surprisingly roomy, especially in the back seat, and all of its controls are easily understood and easy to use. And the wonderful thing about it is how evolved, matured and refined it is. Fortunately, VW knows better than to mess with a formula that works like crazy, and is likely to be a formula that will pay the company dividends for years to come. |
