After a week of driving the luxurious Lincoln MKX, we fully experienced its 3.7 liter V6 Ecoboost engine with 303 powerful horsepower. The drive handles smoothly and elegantly. It's a breeze suiting up and a refined cruiser once started. | Our MKX was powered by a turbocharged 2.7 liter V-6 that puts out 335 horses. Driving the MKX, we felt swathed in comfort, with nary a worry in the world. The sense of isolation from noise and outside conditions was simply astounding, and very much in the Lexus class, to our view. And we loved the hands-free system for the hatch, especially in rain. Thanks to an adjustable suspension system, the MKX handles just about all road conditions like a champ. |
Fuel Economy | |
17 city/ 26 highway and 21 overall - which is below the class average. | 21 combined, 17 city and 26 highway. It's pretty much competitive with the other cars in its market such as the Infiniti QX60 and others. |
The Car | |
Built on the platform of the popular Ford Edge, the updated MKX is quiet, luxurious and powerful. Front wheel drive is standard, but All Wheel Drive is available. Comes with three driving modes - normal, sport and comfort - and all have their reason to be. We like the push button transmission controls and how it saves space and the ease of use; although noted at twice it took more than a second to register. For the long run the MKX is a top choice with built-in massage features to both drivers and passenger seats; love the cool and heated choices. The panoramic sunroof extends over both rows of seating. Now while that feature is great for seeing beyond, OEM's need to talk about the exact covering they are using on the glass to protect passengers - young and all passengers - from the sun's rays! Other terrific features include the car brings itself back when you cross over a yellow lane, will auto park with parallel and perpendicular locations, and the rear view camera gives you a great 360 point of view and perspective. The rear seats have a 60/40 split for convenient configuring and hands-free liftgate is standard. And, so much more. We are thrilled to give Lincoln a real nod in consumer excellence. Especially for women. One of the coolest things about the car is the way you can engage with it. There is a company Lincoln works with called RedCap. RedCap enables consumers to transact business with their Lincoln dealer without every leaving their home or office. You can schedule Test Drives at your home, or have your dealer provide Pick-up & Delivery Service to have your vehicle serviced. Check it out here: http://getredcap.com. We applaud this type of customer care. Whether you checking out the possibility of doing business with Lincoln or a current client, bravo to Lincoln who have rolled out the red carpet with RedCap! Lincoln's Pick-up & Delivery Service. |
SThe all-new 2016 Lincoln MKX embodies the brand to a T. It is contemporary--and gorgeous in its understatement. It seems to glide by regally as you see it pass through. And you just know when you see it, it is obvious it belongs among the moneyed, well mannered gracious set. It shares its platform and basic body form to Ford's Edge, but this is a whole different product from stem to stern. The interior, which you reach after seeing the Lincoln star projected on the sidewalk at night, is well-done and luxurious but it is anything but showy. If you are looking for glitz and geegaws, well....there's a few other luxury brands out there that might suit you better. |

Ours cost $54,570 with options, but you decide for yourself. Let's start with the basic Premiere Group. This includes 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension dampers (AWD models only), automatic xenon headlights, LED taillights, keyless ignition and entry, remote engine start, rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, active noise cancellation, heated eight-way power front seats (with power lumbar support), driver memory functions, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a reclining, 60/40-split second-row seat with power-folding seatbacks. Standard technology features include voice controls (Sync), Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a rearview camera, a configurable instrument cluster, a central 8-inch display with a touchscreen interface (either the MyLincoln Touch infotainment or the newer Sync 3 system, with availability depending on when the MKX was built) and a 10-speaker audio system with a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary input and two USB ports. Step up to the Select Group if you want things like, LED daytime running lights, power-folding side mirrors (the driver-side mirror gets an auto-dimming feature), a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and wood trim. The optional Select Plus package adds a navigation system and blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems. The Reserve Group adds 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, ventilated front seats, mobile-app compatibility, a panoramic sunroof and the contents of the Select Plus package. Then there is the Ultimate offering, and boy, is it ever ultimate! We are referring to the much-talked about Black Label group, which gives you what you get in the Reserve Group, but also adds its own 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, a simulated suede headliner, upgraded leather upholstery and the Revel Ultima 19-speaker surround-sound audio system with HD radio. |
Aesthetics & Styling | |
The MKX is Impeccable with all the corners finished and colored in. 2016 earmarked a redesign for this model made longer resulting in more generous legroom in the back seat for taller passengers, with reclining seatbacks. Wooden trim and aluminum appointments throughout indulge the senses, along with the quietness of the ride due to the active noise cancellation feature. Styling and design are crisp. | You also get to choose a theme for your MKX Black Label, all of which are lavishly shown in a gorgeous catalog for these models that you really don't want to miss. There are four different design themes (Indulgence, Modern Heritage, Muse and Thoroughbred), each of which alters the trim and the color of the upholstery, headliner and carpeting. It also ushers you into Lincoln's Black Reserve Program which offers you all manner of perks, events and services that will surely make your head spin! There's the Culinary Collection included with Black Label Membership - a curated list of restaurants from coast to coast with noted chefs providing an at-your-service dining experience. There's pickup and delivery back home for your car when it is serviced. And there is a mobile showroom that comes to you, an in-dealership studio featuring a private fitting room and remote vehicle delivery. |
