The Honda Fit is one of the highest rated and quickest four cylinder cars in the subcompact category. This vehicle moves for a smaller car and that, with many other reasons, makes it a top seller and contender. Coupled with the continuously variable transmission (CVT), the car is fun to drive and get around town in. Handing is smooth and acceleration is as expected; spunky and marked. I get why the paddle shifters are in the car, but question how many drivers really use them for their incremental cost, albeit not much more than a couple hundred dollars. But on an entry level car, that a car month car payment. |
1.5 Liter four cylinder engine. Don't let those figures unsettle you. The Fit is plenty fast and is as much fun to drive as my 2005 Mini Cooper convertible. The Mini Cooper, for me after all, is the gold standard of small car performance and handling, and the Fit is right up there with it. The Fit handles like a bat out of hell, has accurate steering, and brakes that are top notch. |

The Car | |
The Fit is in it's third generation and its finest. Value is a word all on its own when used to describe the Fit. How so? The interior isn't as small as it appears; taller passengers can be seated in the back fairly comfortably and not be cramped up - a real plus. Of course, the seat configuration that can be made so that space can be adjusted and contorted to accommodate your things or gear is quite unique. Click to see them all. Made in Mexico. Like the fact that the seats adjusted and fit me. And, that in January, they are heated. Honda has done a nice job using materials of quality grade. Nothing seemed cheap or diminished. In the upgrade package we got the 16" alloy wheels and all season tires. Nice sunroof, too. |
The Fit has undergone a pretty extensive refurbishing, including a much nicer and upgraded interior with the same flexible seating arrangements that have made it such a hit with everyone. If you fold the rear seat cushion up you can stand up a bicycle inside! It also has a new six speed manual transmission and more interior and comfort. |

Aesthetics & Styling | |
This eggshell combination-slash mouse-shape design is sleeker than past cars. Also, the headlights are thinner, making the vehicle all around more attractive and the design language more universal. | I always loved the Fit's styling, but the additional new character lines that make it look like it's moving when standing still are great, along with new styling designs up front and around back. A favorite feature: Honda offers a right lane visibility feature via the touch screen that comes in handy making right turns. |
