Not exactly your father's Honda, this large 3.5 liter V6 engine is standard giving this car, much like its sister Accord, at 271 horsepower, there is some real power
The AWD worked well in the SnowZilla February of 2010; once the 20" of snow was removed from the car's hood, there was ease and ample traction getting around up/down the hills, narrow streets and snow covered roads. Front double wishbone suspension; variable assist rack and pinion power steering Anti lock brakes with brake assist 18" wheels another reason to make this car drive and handle well |
271-hp, 3.5 liter, V6 - that's plenty of power. It has no problem getting up to and maintaining speed.
Real Time 4WD - rear wheels only engage when front wheel slippage occurs. Not sure how I feel about this. It's much better than only 2WD but would rather it be user switchable. Front and rear independent suspension and stabilizer bars - nice ride and handling. 18 inch alloys help with handling |
Fuel Economy | |
17 mpg city/25 mpg highway. Not impressive compared to the Accord. Why not make avail in a 4 cylinder? | 17/25 mpg - not great
Fuel economy is saved by it not being 4WD all the time yet the engine size takes away from this. The fuel economy on the 4WD model is only 1-2 MPG less than the 2WD model so why not go 4WD. |
The Car | |
The Cross Tour takes all that is good from the Accord and injects it into hatchback type look. Even more room that the Accord.
Reliability, sprit, safety and comfort are the cornerstones to this vehicle The hatch is both a blessings and a curse. Really provides versatility and roominess in the back, however, impedes drivers ability to use rear view mirror at all. Poor rear visibility is a problem on this model already, and makes it just about impossible to see out window with folks in the back seat. |
This car is practical both in its style and function and can definitely handle winter conditions. There are enough electronics to launch a mission to mars. Not sure how their target customers will be able to handle this. There is enough room and storage for everyday use. Comfortable ride. Excellent control. |
Safety | |
Theft deterrent system
Front and driver dual-stage SRS airbags/side airbags and side curtain airbags ACE body structure for maximum structural integrity Active front head restraints; LATCH system in rear for child seats Daytime running lights |
Variable Stability Assist with Traction Control - good to have but like the option to turn it off.
4 Wheel disc ABS brakes - nice stopping power for that engine Front and Side Curtain airbags, 3 point seat belts Daytime running lights - simple but important feature Visibility wasn't great out the back hatch or toward the rear corners which made me nervous on the highway |
Technology | |
Navigation system w/ voice recognition is odd. Not nearly as detailed or specific as competitors
Rearview camera engages when car is put in reverse - always turn around and check before using just camera AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with 7 speakers produces adequate sound Bluetooth™ hands-free link XM satellite sound to listen to your personalized genre USB interface to stay connected | This car has pretty much everything: power everything, 360 watt 6 disc player, XM Radio, GPS, USB interface, MP3 playback capability, AUX in jack, heated front seats, Bluetooth hands free link, dual climate control
GPS graphics and GUI don't look great and the electronics controls are very clustered. It's not easy to figure out what button to push while driving. |
Aesthetics & Styling | |
Getting sassier is this Honda brand; clean lines and profile on this hatchback. Let it be said that the Cross Tour is way ahead of the Toyota Venza in terms of appearances and looks (perhaps not so in terms of functionality and space, however.)
Black leather attractive heated seats for driver and front passenger Black interior with chrome and black-tortoise speckled accents One-touch power moon roof Leather wrapped steering wheel with integrated controls Dual-climate control for personalized temperature control Well-positioned, very attractive LED, easy to read controls Good organization including multiple cup holders Worth repeating that the rear-view visibility is a problem and makes it just about impossible to see out window with folks in the back seat. |
I'm still trying to get used to the whole crossover thing. The back end looks strange to me from the side.
The interior is styled nicely with leather seats, steering wheel and shift knob 18 inch alloy wheels look nice |

Final assembly is East Liberty, Ohio.
Wondering how this new Accord will impact entry model Acura sales, as styling is beginning to map on top of the mother brand. |
Lets talk about value. This car has many features and is no doubt a great car. However, I'm not sure it justifies the price. When I think Honda I think reliable, practical, affordable, etc. I was surprised to learn the price was over $30,000 after driving it for a day. |
