The 2015 Nisan Rouge does not disappoint. Perhaps not the powerhouse of the CUV class, though, its not designed to be. It handles well enough, has more than enough horsepower with 170, and its 2.5 liter, four cylinder engine provides what most drivers (legally) need from the second best rated CUV; quite a feather in Nissan's cap. 2.5 liter, 170 horsepower, four cylinder engine. For our purposes, we thought this engine was more than adequate, though other auto writers say the Rogue needs more punch. Handling felt secure and comfortable, steering and braking were fine, too, thus prompting me to rate the Rogue as one of the best handling small crossovers around.
Fuel Economy
25 city miles and 32 highway miles, for an average of 28 mpg. But here is a key factor - this 2015 model outperforms most of the vehicles in its class. No need to pay for a hybrid when the Rouge gets such excellent mileage. You can expect 25 city, 32 highway. Annual fuel costs are $1,900 a year, based on 15,000 miles a year on gasoline costing 3.50 a gallon (so, the savings is greater, as the price of gas isn't running that high).
The Car
It may surprise readers to know that the Rouge is Nissan's second best-selling model behind the Altima (see our Altima review here.) The reasons are easy to understand; the vehicle is up-scale in many ways making it a value, value, value - and, the customer base appreciates it. In fact, sales of the Rouge are already up 13% so far this year over last.

Lets start with the seat capacity. With the third row, albeit small, still offers families more functionality and space - especially with the reclining and sliding second row: Watch out minivans! What is great about this for moms and families, is ease. Light years ahead of the 2014 model, the 2015 also has more storage cavities. Oh yea, there is a power liftgate, too.

Leather appointed and comfortable, Nissan offers the customized Zero Gravity front seats, with lumbar support. The ride is all supported by 18" alloy wheels.
The Rogue, which has always been a pleasant, but modest crossover now moves several notches up in luxury, accommodations, and presence. Yet it remains quite affordable. And it is so well equipped you will have to really fight to make a case for buying anything else. It is that good.

Suggestion..... buy it in a dark color.... really classy looking!

Two potential problems. First, there is only one engine available... take it or leave it. The second: the new Rogue is so sharp looking and well done, it may be hard for some consumers to make a case for buying the all new Murano, which has more radical styling and a higher price. We will see after checking out a Murano.
Airs bags at the drivers and passenger level, and side impact, and curtain air bags. Traction Control. Tire Pressure Monitoring. LATCH. Heated outside mirrors - definitely handy in these sub zero temperatures. LED Daytime Running lights. Blind Spot Monitoring. Lane Departure Warning. Forward Collision Warning and Moving Object Detection. Push-button start. All Wheel Drive. The usual airs bags, bells and whistles.
Excellently equipped with all the needed features, plus! Rearview Camera. Nissan's Around View monitor, which uses four cameras and provides a 360 degree view around the vehicle when parking. Bluetooth. USB port, Sirius XM, Nissan Connect with Traffic and Travel links. Hands free text messaging assist feature. The options include Nissan Connect infotainment and entertainment system with navigation. A 7" touch-screen display. A kick Bose stereo with nine (9) speakers: no one is missing a beat. Nicely equipped! The SL comes with EZ. Flex seating system, 60/40 sliding second row seats, leather everywhere, Nissan Connect navi/entertainment system, Sirius Traffic and Travel links, Divide-N-Hide cargo system, full power accessories, heated front seats, fog lamps, power liftgate, heated mirrors, etc.
Aesthetics & Styling
Very attractive trims lines on the inside and great touch-point materials used throughout. We love the Juke-inspired exterior hood without the extreme muscle. Wow! Gorgeous redo that makes the Rogue far more expensive looking with lots of athletic tones all over. Very successful redo. Inside, the upgrade of materials is quite obvious. A big improvement over the last generation.
